Bookmamas is pleased to sponsor this year's Irvington Halloween Festival Writing Contest. All poems, stories and essays should have a Halloween or Fall theme and the contest is open to writers of all ages. Entries should be sent to the Irvington Halloween Festival website by October 1, 2016. Participants in the Kindergarten-6th grade level may submit 2 poems or short stories or one of each and these may include illustrations if desired. Participants in both the 7th-12th grade level and the Adult level may submit a single poem, short story or essay. All works must be previously unpublished and this includes material published on the Internet. Entries should be appropriate for general audiences and any deemed inappropriate by the project lead, contest judge or contest organizer will be disqualified.
Winning entries will be read at the Spooky Stories event at Irving Circle Park on October 27 @ 7 pm and awards will be presented at that time. If winners are unavailable to attend the event their prizes may be picked up at the Halloween Festival booth on Oct. 29 or at the Irvington Public Library within 14 days after the contest date. All winners are solely responsible for picking up their prizes. Bookmamas will be providing the awards.
